About Me:
UPDATE ON INDIA 2007:
I'm very pleased to announce I'm back in New York after my three-month volunteering stint in Rajasthan.
I completed a documentary film script for the non-government organization, Mahan Seva Sansthan, entitled “Mahan Seva Sansthan: Educating for Empowerment.”Once the film is completed, it will be able to be viewed at: http://www.mahanseva.org. Ths is a wonderful group. Please see the film, please consider volunteering for them or assisting with donations.
In particular, MSS is in desperate need of office supplies for both their Udaipur office and their headquarters in the rural village of Kolyari. A lot of MSS's work is with chlldren, so school supplies are also welcome. Contact me if you have any questions or if you need direct access to MSS.
While I'm happy to be back home, I'm thrilled to have had the opportunity to work in India again, and am eager to get back to even more development work – wherever it is needed.
Most importantly, THANK YOU to all who attended my Bon Voyage Benefit (and to Bruce & Bob of the Broken Cup Cafe who hosted) as well as those who offered verbal support and donations.
Now, back to your regularly scheduled profile!
—————————————————————
I'm a writer and peace activist.
I did my time in the trenches of Corporate America, and – after realizing to my Pollyanna-esque shock that I could not in fact change the world by remaining in Corporate America – I high-tailed it outta Dodge and started my own writing company, gentlefish productions
Because the planet fascinates me, I travel whenever possible, with a mysterious and magnetic pull toward India that I have ceased to question.
I'm barefoot most of the time.
I have this thing about the moon. I've been known to stop in the middle of the street and stare at her – a habit I am trying to break, since I live in Manhattan.
I want to spread love all over the universe like a big ol' slathering of tahini.
I believe that everything is holy…although I'm working hard to remember that when it's tax time.
I am currently developing theories on the following topics*:
- Prophets: Who are they? Can we all be one?
- Kali's Tongue: What up with that?
- Unlikely Oracles (i.e. Empty whipped cream can whippits)
- Serendipity (a.k.a. Love Letters From the Universe)
- Reverse Reincarnation (In contrast to Homo sapien-centric beliefs, I submit that returning as a tree or some sort of animal is actually a progression.)
But. And. Also…
The purpose of my life is to move gracefully toward my death…touching as many people with love as possible along the way.
———————————
In today’s highly interdependent world, individuals and nations can no longer resolve many of their problems by themselves. We need one another. We must therefore develop a sense of universal responsibility … It is our collective and individual responsibility to protect and nurture the global family, to support its weaker members, and to preserve and tend to the environment in which we all live.
